Setting up the data gathering job

Discovery Mode for Testimony gathers time sliced performance data from the production system and uses this to assist in the calculation of suitable recording windows. In order to be able to get a useful set of data, it is advisable to gather data for at least one full calendar month (in order to capture monthly processes). However, by default, SAP only keeps time sliced data in its performance database for one week. Therefore, in order to be able to gather this quantity of data it is necessary to run the data collection job each week to pick up the latest data.

To start the process, go to SE38/SA38 on your central system and execute the report /BTI/AUT_UA_GET_ST03N.

Enter the information for the RFC destination and the SID of the production system, as well as the date range (the screen defaults to the previous 7 days) and then schedule the report as a background job. Once the job has finished, the spool list should contain information on how many entries have been added to the DB.
