The ActiveControl workflow consists of Inbox, Test Queue** and *Outbox control points where an approver(s) is responsible for approving the SAP change / transports. Until this approval is done, the transports won’t move forward in the transport path. These Inbox, Test Queue and Outbox control points are completely configurable, depending on an SAP customer’s approval requirements.
The ActiveControl approvals workflow: Inboxes, Outboxes and Test Queues.
Inboxes and Outboxes
Inbox and Outbox approvers are typically maintained by Administrators.
Depending on the customer’s individual requirements – these are either configured via the Windows GUI (and are based on the Transport Form [Group] field) – or alternatively via the more powerful Rules Engine (and based on any field or field combination logic).
Test Queues
Test Queue testers are governed by assignments of Testers on individual Business Tasks, done in the SAP GUI, Windows GUI and Web UI by any authorised user. It is also possible via the Rules Engine to automatically assign Testers based on field logic.
Virtual Targets
It is only possible to have 1 Inbox, 1 Test Queue and 1 Outbox as part of a Target configuration within ActiveControl – giving a maximum of 3 approval points per Target. Where more than 3 approvals are required, it is possible for Administrators to create Virtual Targets to facilitate additional approval points. These virtual systems are essentially ‘pretend’ systems without an Import Queue.
