Synthetic System Load

Purpose

This screen lets you trigger synthetic system load upon a target system in order to support testing of Testimony itself. Data is first generated for various transaction types and placed into batches. Then these batches are run against the target system in order to put load upon it for recording. Once recorded, the data can be played back and compared to what was generated within the synthetic load batch.

There are 3 tabs that make up this functionality:

Synthetic Load Scripts

This grid displays all of the synthetic load scripts that are available for generation and playback. From this grid you can generate multiple script instances that can be added into a synthetic load batch.

Execution Variants

This functionality allows you to repetitively generate and execute synthetic load upon a target system. This is generally used for demonstration scenarios.

Generated Batches

This functionality allows you to create and navigate existing synthetic load batches which contain generated transactional data which can be played into a target system. After generating N transactions of various types, you are able to use this screen to start the execution process.

Possible Actions

You should start by creating a new “synthetic load batch” (within the tab “Generated Batches”). All of your generated transactions can then be added to that batch from this point on. This is done by selecting the new batch from the drop-down toolbar “Add to batch…”. It also needs to know what the source and target system is which it is going to generate transactions from and then play them into. This is done by selecting the source/target system from the drop-down toolbar “System”.
