High Level Architecture

The overall Architecture of ActiveControl Web Platform is illustrated below. As mentioned in the previous section, the Web Platform in ActiveControl 9.00 replaces the legacy ActiveControl Web UI, but the ActiveControl Windows GUI (and SAPGUI screens) are still required as part of ActiveControl Web Platform 9.00.

Domain Controller concept

ActiveControl has always required a Domain Controller SAP system where the product is installed and the majority of the data and configuration resides. For most Basis Technologies customers, the Domain Controller has typically been the Solution Manager Production system, but the reality is it does not need to be Solution Manager, it can be any Netweaver stack system with high availability. All users of ActiveControl will need to have a user account in the Domain Controller system with the appropriate ActiveControl authorisations. A Domain Controller SAP system is still required as part of the ActiveControl Web Platform.
