Important Upgrade Information

Since ActiveControl 9.00, the way in which Basis Technologies deploy ActiveControl changes significantly versus the previous deployment approach.

Prior to 9.00, the same “Server” transport was typically deployed into all of a customer’s SAP systems – ie both the Domain Controller and all Satellite systems. This was quite inefficient, as the reality has always been that the majority of ActiveControl functionality exists in the Domain Controller, with a small subset of this in the Development Satellite systems, and an even smaller subset in the non-Development Satellites. As a result, ActiveControl Upgrades and also the deployment of Cumulative Patches could sometimes become more time-consuming and onerous to deploy for our customers than was really required. In addition, customer systems often ended up with more ActiveControl /BTI/ objects in their managed satellite systems than was really required.

ActiveControl 9.00 changed the software packaging, with a transport being deployed to Domain Controller and Development satellites and a different transport now being deployed to non-Development satellites
