Types are used as another way of classifying Business Tasks or Transport Forms.
- At Business Task level, a Type could be used to differentiate ticket types (eg Change Request, Standard Change, Incident Fix).
- At Transport Form level, a Type could be used to differentiate transport types (eg Workbench, Customizing, Transport of Copies).
Types are typically used for Reporting purposes, or in some customers also for driving skipping rules so that certain types of Business Tasks or Transports bypass certain parts of the workflow.
Configuration
Types are created and maintained via the Types app tile on the Administration screen. Only users with [Y_TECONF]-TYPE can create/edit Types. Users with [Y_TEUSER]-CONFIG can view but not edit.

Once a Type has been created, this field cannot be changed. Types that have been used in the past but have now become obsolete can be hidden.
