Planning Status were used as part of a legacy Task Planning capability within ActiveControl, which allowed Customers to define pre-development Approval Workflows. This Task Planning workflow was retired in ActiveControl 7.0, as the vast majority (ie 98+%) of Basis Technologies customers are using best-of-breed tools such as ServiceNow, JIRA or Microsoft Azure DevOps to manage such change lifecycles.
The Planning status is still seen on the Business Task screen, primarily as a means of allowing customers to reflect a simple Change Approval process (eg Awaiting Approval / Approved) prior to starting to create transports against a Business Task. Details of how this can be setup are detailed in this online Knowledge Article. It should be noted however that even this simple Planning process is not widely used by Basis Technologies customers (since most have an ITSM tool such as Jira or ServiceNow for this pre-Development process) and may be retired from the product completely in the future.
Configuration
For the handful of Basis Technologies customers that do use Planning status field as part of a simple pre-Development approval workflow on each new Business Task, Planning Status’ can be created and maintained via the Statuses app tile on the Administration screen. 95% of ActiveControl customers will not require to configure this part of the product.
